The new eclipse technique

Have you seen the new creative trend lately?  If you like to go on Pinterest, there are many samples for this new eclipse technique.  I loved the look and decided to try it out myself.  The demonstrators on my team that attended my monthly team meeting in September tried it as well.  They loved it.  I gave them a challenge to show me their versions and await their sample before we chose a winner!! The best card gets a prize!!!  I'll get my girls to pick out the winner since I'm sure the samples will all be amazing.  I am blessed with such talented, sweet demonstrators on my team.  Love to host those monthly meetings.  I anticipate for that monthly date night with these girls. If you would like to try the eclipse technique you can host a party with me or follow the steps below.  Here is a glimpse of the final product.  I used the hostess merry patterns stamp set that we have on promotion.  You can earn it for FREE too, just ask me for your hostess code and compile orders in September and October.   You can combine both months too:)  See the promotions details HERE.

Step 1

Stamp images on a piece of card stock.

I used cherry cobbler and old olive ink with the hostess stamp set Merry Patterns.

Step 2

Chose a word and place the Large letters framelits #141712 on your piece of stamped card stock.  Note you could do this technique with the large numbers framelits as well #140622.  The trick is that your letters need to be big to have an amazing affect.  The large letters in the annual catalogue are perfect for that.

Step 3

Pass your letters and card stock image in the big shot machine. Set aside the letters and adhere your card stock like the image below.

Step 4

This is an important step!  To have the best effect use the foam adhesive strips.  Those are thicker and will provide height to your letters.  If you use regular dimensionals, the letters won't have as much of the eclipse effect.

Step 5

Adhere the foam adhesive letters to the card, where they were cut out.  Shift them slightly to the right, just a "touch".  This creates that eclipse shadow.  And voila!  In my card below, I stamped the greeting "Merry Christmas" with the archival basic black ink.

I hope you enjoyed this new technique!   Don't forget to ask for your hostess code to earn this beautiful stamp set for FREE.  And if you shop with me, I have a VIP customer perk, you get to accumulate points for FREE products!!  Happy stamping!

Lift me up

It's the end of January and we haven't had lots of sun this past month. I can't think of a better stamp set than lift me up to lift someone's spirit. The possibilities are endless with this set. But for today, I picked a soft look for this design. The lift me up stamp set has a coordinating thinlits dies called up & away.  When bought as a bundle you save an extra 10%, item code # 144712 clear mount or wood mount #144711. This set is also available in French, "gentil remontant #143383" poinçons thinlits l'appel du ciel #142748. Ou le lot gentil remontant et économisez 10%, #144713.

I'm having like we call it in French "un coup de cœur" which means falling for something but in French it means much more… I've added the whisper white mini pompom trim, they make me smile, so adorable! My tiny bow comes from the baker's twine in Bermuda bay #134575. I also added a little foxy designer series paper #141637. It's a stack of 48 sheets 6×6.

If you search on Pinterest, you will find many colorful projects with this stamp set and it's coordinating dsp. The sale a bration catalogue has the coordinating designer series paper called carried away, #143608.

Some extra goodies from me:*** When you order in my online store, add hostess code: ZC7CZ4HE. This will give you an extra 5 samplers cards from occasion's catalogue products created by myself, mailed directly to you… If you join my team and purchase the starter kit: Receive 2 PDF's from my occasion's event…

Is crafting a big part of your life? Do you want to earn money while doing something you love? How about the convenience of setting your own hours? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then Stampin' Up! is the perfect opportunity for you.

Being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator means sharing your passion for stamping with family and friends, meeting new people, and building a great business doing so-plus, you get to set your own schedule!  Click HERE for all the details….

The starter kit is also a great opportunity to get $165 of products for $135 and during sale a bration, you get two bonus stamp sets of your choice.

I would love to share my story on why I joined:  In June 2006, I was a full time nurse & a mother of 3 beautiful girls.  I attended a workshop and fell in love with the products.  I was just returning to work from a maternity leave and wanted to get the products at a discount price to complete my daughters albums.  I was able to reduce my nursing hours and create  my own working hours.  I started hosting for my friends and over the years I hosted parties with people like you, strangers that became friends.  I have experienced all levels with stampin up:  Buying the kit for the discount=hobby demonstrator, hosting to family and friends=business demonstrator, making it part of my family income and being #3 Demonstrator in Canada in 2011 while having a large team of demonstrators = a leader demonstrator. With Stampin up!  There is a place for everyone…

Join my team by clicking here or email me with your questions. Not from Canada, ask me how to link you to a demonstrator in your country!

I wanted to show you highlights from my card.  Do you see that sparkle on the icing on the cupcake, it's a new product we carry in the annual catalogue called Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  It comes in gold #141898 and clear #141897.  It's a glitter pen for accenting stamped images.

A highlight of this product is that it is none messy… I get the glitter effect without having sparkles everywhere including my face 🙂

I've created two versions of the cupcake card.  This one above has more details… It includes extra ribbon and the new stitched shapes framelits dies #145372 that was sold out,  is back!!!!   Whoohooo!!!  When it sold out the first time in 2 weeks,  I wanted to cry… Now that it is back available, I ordered it and expedited the order to get it before they run out again.   Get yours today… #bestproductever.  It cuts thoughtfully stitched circles, squares and ovals in seconds with framelits dies and the big shot.

This version is simpler, less ribbon.  The up side to this is when creating simpler cards, you can duplicate them at a faster pace.

I have to say I adore my color combo.  All the details to the products used are listed below.    I also am loving the touches of textures stamp set.  It's so versatile. It's content has stamps that are perfect to use as backgrounds.  I hope you've enjoyed by birthday card.  Wishing youi a great evening, hope you stamp your heart out!

Lots of layers

I have had this card laying in my studio for a while.  Trying to make it work.  It's like my new house, my home.  When you buy a house that you haven't built, you need to adapt and make it yours.  I think, I have successfully accomplished my goal with my card and my home.  Jordan always refers to our house as "fancy"! lol.  She always say:  "it might not be big mom but it's fancy!"  Actually, the week that I don't have the girls, I find it very big… But, I'm starting to get use to that after 2 years in the new house.  We also have a surprise addition to the house.  He's called Badger.  Badger was Chris's  K9 dog.  He retired from the force after being a K9 dog x 12 years.  Yes, he is 84 years old in human years.  The sad part about a working dog is if the trainer or previous trainer doesn't take him in, he would be euthanized.  To Chris, Badger was his long time partner and he could not do that.  Especially that Badger has saved his life a couple of times.  I love hearing all the stories… Therefore, I agreed to take him in.  In the beginning, I was petrified hearing all the stories from our friends.  Especially, that when we got him, initially it was only Badger and I at the house.  Let me tell you, that first week, I gave him so many treats to make sure he associated the treats as a reward and not me as the treat/reward!!!  We are now great friends.   I have taken many pictures and plan on scrapbooking them for Chris.  He is an important part of Chris's life.

My card has a monochromatic theme going just like my house.  In my home,  there are dark floors, light walls with a hint of baja breeze.  Do you remember that Stampin'up! color? It was my ultimate favorite, back in the day.   I compare it to a sweet combo of pool party and soft sky:) I wanted to maintain the monochromatic theme in the house so everything would blend.  For this card it was all about white, gold, layers and shining bright like a diamond…

You can see the layers from this side view.  I love using dimensionals #104430 to create the layers.  I've used the dimensionals on behind the trees and wording banner.

Then came glitter and gold embossing.  I've embossed the tea lace paper doilie #129399 with iridescent ice embossing powder #101930.  Embossed one of the stamps from the peaceful pines stamp set #139728 with gold embossing powder #109129 and you will noticed that I added snowed texture to one of my trees, it's dazzling details #124117.  I love glitter! There is a great bundle that is included in the holiday catalogue:  the perfect Pines framelits dies with the peaceful pines stamp set.  You save 15% when you get the bundle #140850.

I could not resist adding a Reindeer paper clip #139643.  There are 10 in a package.  Wouldn't these look cute with Christmas pictures.  I need to work on that:)

The background was created with  the winter wonderland specialty designer series paper #139588.  It is a rich combo of whisper white, gold and basic black.  When you view the entire series, you will find it very classy:) I also added layers of the winter wonderland designer washi tape #139609, at the bottom of the card.  The all is calm, all is bright quote comes from the stamp set Wonderland #140365. It matches the paper collection of course.   And if you look at one of the first pictures, you will see that I added white 3/8" glitter ribbon since I'm all about glitter. This ribbon comes in a package of 5 yards each of gold and white ribbon. #139614.  Last but not least, I added pearls #119247.  A rule of thumb when decorating a home, you always decorate in odd numbers.  That is why my card has 3 trees and 3 pearls and 1 reindeer:)

I hope you liked my project today.  If you would like to get together with your friends and create your holiday cards, email me asap! I have a couple of spots.

Simple as Black & White

I don't know if it's cooler in your area but it sure is here.  Which reminds me that Fall is just around the corner and my favorite season.  Why?  I love the comfort food, knitted sweaters, the cooler breeze, apple picking with the girls and the change in the color of the Canadian Maple trees.  Today, I decided to change the Summer wreaths on my two front doors for my Fall wreaths.  The girls started school last Monday, I on the other hand have organized most of my Fall Classes.  You should check it out HERE and sign up before all the spots are filled up.  Plus, I added a kids/Tween class so pass the word around because my kids sure want a monthly kids class with new friends.  I have been creating in my studio a few Fall projects.  The kids and friends have been playing dress up which has inspired me to start creating for Halloween/Fall projects.  Here are a few pics.  Before you say anything, I had nothing to do with these costumes.  It was all them.  I just snap the shots and was laughing enough that my stomach was aching, aching in a good way!

From left to right, here is Jeremy the Yo Man, Megan, Meg's Friend Madison an avatar and Lauren a mime

Jeremy, Megan and Madison.  So bizarre to have a little girl with black hair.

Here is Megan, she was my inspiration for this month's hostess gift.  I decided to go with a classic, simple yet elegant look = Black and White.  I have created a monogram hostess card box and it includes 4 cards with envelops. If you book a party with me in September, you get your personalized monogram box with 4 cards.  BOOK HERE!

I love the Lovely letters alphabet and the new vintage stamp set Established Elegance.  1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon in basic black is simply adorable, these ribbon are wonderful to use because they are wider than average ribbon and they coordinate with Stampin up! colors.  You can still sign up for my ribbon club HERE, check them out.  To get a few meters of all 11 colors.  This card is truly simple but what makes in stand out is the Elegant Lines textured embossing folder embossed with the big shot on the whisper white cardstock.  I truly love the products used and hope my September hostesses will love them two.

Established Elegance comes in 3 different ways:   #122530 (wood) #122532 (clear mount)  and if you love digital scrapbooking # 127424 for only 7.95.  which you can order in my storeCan't book a party with me in September than look at the product list to order these supplies to make yours at home.  Happy Monday!

Hostess Gift from Convention

Busy busy as a bee, as I was uploading pictures on my new computer, I realized that I have been very busy:  Convention, Vegas, Tony and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in July, finally had my open house with the launch of the new catalogue, we attended Tony's uncle's 60th birthday party and his cousin's wedding and I celebrated my birthday last Friday.  Thanks to all of you for posting happy birthday on Facebook.  Actually, if the Facebook wishes were stamped, handmade cards, I would have had 150 of them:) pretty impressive! On the downside, summer is half done and we haven't been around, Tony and I made a list of 30 things that needed to be done around the house.  We realized that our busy schedule was not going to cut it.  So my dad is helping us out and started today to do the things on the list.  I am so grateful and the girls are super excited that he's around too:)  I love watching the girls pitching around and helping him out.

I have so many projects that I want to show you.  Having all these events to attend in July made me stamp a lot. And now it's time to post some of them here.  First, I wanted to post my hostess box and matching cards that I presented at convention.  I created the box from a soap box from a hotel and just changed the size to fit a 3×3 card.  Simple Right?

If you would like one of these, there are 4 options to receive Kim's Hostess Set:

1- Book a Party with me

2- Place a online order with me + Bonus get VIP service

3- Join my team, I would love to share this opportunity with you

4- Place a comment on my blog and I will draw 1 of these

Good Luck!

Personally for this project I preferred using the marker because I colored in the images and left the bee out of the stamp set to replace it with a butterfly

And we are off…

So like usual, I always have lots of things to do before I go on a trip.  This trip is extremely special because it's the Alaska Stampin'up! Cruise.  I love Stampin'up! events as it keeps me rejuvenated.  And May is a great time just before our 2010-2011 catalog comes to an end.

I only slept a few ours and packed last minute once again.  It wasn't the packing that kept me awake, it's the laundry.  My dad & step mom Karen are staying and sitting the kids at home so they are comfy in their own things.  I wanted laundry to be all done so he wouldn't need to bother.  They plan on enlarging the garden while we are gone.  See it's the first year that we decide to do a real garden.  Tony and the girls planted pumpkins and cucumbers.  But my dad is going to add extra veggies, like onions and tomato plants …. So the girls are really excited and I am reassured that they will have a great time while we are gone on this fabulous trip.  I hope there is internet connection so I can keep you posted.  Right now, I'm sitting at the Vancouver airport awaiting our next flight to Seattle.  There is a 3hrs time difference, so we had breakfast for the second time around!

I wanted to share today my Nautical Banner.  If you love parties or have children, I suggest investing in the Pennant Die.  You can view more matching projects HERE.

Pennant Stampin' Up! Bigz Xl Die #113483
Price: $53.95

You can use the Pennant die to create two sizes of festive pennants from any piece of card stock or Designer Series paper. This design is a Shelli original.

Keep in mind you need your Big shot #113439 and the extended cutting pads #113478.  I truly thing it was a great investment since I don't need to buy a banner for every occasion.
