Simple as Black & White

I don't know if it's cooler in your area but it sure is here.  Which reminds me that Fall is just around the corner and my favorite season.  Why?  I love the comfort food, knitted sweaters, the cooler breeze, apple picking with the girls and the change in the color of the Canadian Maple trees.  Today, I decided to change the Summer wreaths on my two front doors for my Fall wreaths.  The girls started school last Monday, I on the other hand have organized most of my Fall Classes.  You should check it out HERE and sign up before all the spots are filled up.  Plus, I added a kids/Tween class so pass the word around because my kids sure want a monthly kids class with new friends.  I have been creating in my studio a few Fall projects.  The kids and friends have been playing dress up which has inspired me to start creating for Halloween/Fall projects.  Here are a few pics.  Before you say anything, I had nothing to do with these costumes.  It was all them.  I just snap the shots and was laughing enough that my stomach was aching, aching in a good way!

From left to right, here is Jeremy the Yo Man, Megan, Meg's Friend Madison an avatar and Lauren a mime

Jeremy, Megan and Madison.  So bizarre to have a little girl with black hair.

Here is Megan, she was my inspiration for this month's hostess gift.  I decided to go with a classic, simple yet elegant look = Black and White.  I have created a monogram hostess card box and it includes 4 cards with envelops. If you book a party with me in September, you get your personalized monogram box with 4 cards.  BOOK HERE!

I love the Lovely letters alphabet and the new vintage stamp set Established Elegance.  1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon in basic black is simply adorable, these ribbon are wonderful to use because they are wider than average ribbon and they coordinate with Stampin up! colors.  You can still sign up for my ribbon club HERE, check them out.  To get a few meters of all 11 colors.  This card is truly simple but what makes in stand out is the Elegant Lines textured embossing folder embossed with the big shot on the whisper white cardstock.  I truly love the products used and hope my September hostesses will love them two.

Established Elegance comes in 3 different ways:   #122530 (wood) #122532 (clear mount)  and if you love digital scrapbooking # 127424 for only 7.95.  which you can order in my storeCan't book a party with me in September than look at the product list to order these supplies to make yours at home.  Happy Monday!

Hostess Gift from Convention

Busy busy as a bee, as I was uploading pictures on my new computer, I realized that I have been very busy:  Convention, Vegas, Tony and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in July, finally had my open house with the launch of the new catalogue, we attended Tony's uncle's 60th birthday party and his cousin's wedding and I celebrated my birthday last Friday.  Thanks to all of you for posting happy birthday on Facebook.  Actually, if the Facebook wishes were stamped, handmade cards, I would have had 150 of them:) pretty impressive! On the downside, summer is half done and we haven't been around, Tony and I made a list of 30 things that needed to be done around the house.  We realized that our busy schedule was not going to cut it.  So my dad is helping us out and started today to do the things on the list.  I am so grateful and the girls are super excited that he's around too:)  I love watching the girls pitching around and helping him out.

I have so many projects that I want to show you.  Having all these events to attend in July made me stamp a lot. And now it's time to post some of them here.  First, I wanted to post my hostess box and matching cards that I presented at convention.  I created the box from a soap box from a hotel and just changed the size to fit a 3×3 card.  Simple Right?

If you would like one of these, there are 4 options to receive Kim's Hostess Set:

1- Book a Party with me

2- Place a online order with me + Bonus get VIP service

3- Join my team, I would love to share this opportunity with you

4- Place a comment on my blog and I will draw 1 of these

Good Luck!

Personally for this project I preferred using the marker because I colored in the images and left the bee out of the stamp set to replace it with a butterfly

And we are off…

So like usual, I always have lots of things to do before I go on a trip.  This trip is extremely special because it's the Alaska Stampin'up! Cruise.  I love Stampin'up! events as it keeps me rejuvenated.  And May is a great time just before our 2010-2011 catalog comes to an end.

I only slept a few ours and packed last minute once again.  It wasn't the packing that kept me awake, it's the laundry.  My dad & step mom Karen are staying and sitting the kids at home so they are comfy in their own things.  I wanted laundry to be all done so he wouldn't need to bother.  They plan on enlarging the garden while we are gone.  See it's the first year that we decide to do a real garden.  Tony and the girls planted pumpkins and cucumbers.  But my dad is going to add extra veggies, like onions and tomato plants …. So the girls are really excited and I am reassured that they will have a great time while we are gone on this fabulous trip.  I hope there is internet connection so I can keep you posted.  Right now, I'm sitting at the Vancouver airport awaiting our next flight to Seattle.  There is a 3hrs time difference, so we had breakfast for the second time around!

I wanted to share today my Nautical Banner.  If you love parties or have children, I suggest investing in the Pennant Die.  You can view more matching projects HERE.

Pennant Stampin' Up! Bigz Xl Die #113483
Price: $53.95

You can use the Pennant die to create two sizes of festive pennants from any piece of card stock or Designer Series paper. This design is a Shelli original.

Keep in mind you need your Big shot #113439 and the extended cutting pads #113478.  I truly thing it was a great investment since I don't need to buy a banner for every occasion.

Spring cleaning continues…

By saying I will post, you are really pushing me to clean up my studio.  Thank you for all the compliments, and suggestions.  I have already changed a few things.  There was also so many questions, ranging from paint color, where I got my pieces of furniture, to where I got my vintage coffee cups…  You have to take in considerations that I have been a demonstrator x 4 1/2 years and a stamper since Stampin'up! has started in Canada.  Some of the pieces I bought on my own, some are in storage for a dear friend and the rest of them, my husband bought for me on different occasions like Christmas and my birthday etc.  He owns a construction business in Toronto, well actually Mississauga, Ontario and when December comes, I go with him to the big city for his staff's Christmas party and one of my first stop is Pottery Barn:)

This is my favorite Stamping spot!  It gets crazy messy.  Actually, I haven't seen it look like this in a long time!  In the summer I get the Ottawa river view!  Right now, it's a view of ridiculously huge snow banks:(  Anyway, it's the perfect spot to create!  In my baskets, I store all my products.

On the opposite side is where I store all my big shot dies, I love that stampin up has added these box for die storage.  They come in 3 different sizes:  Small die box #122219, Medium die box #122220 and Large die box #122221

I found this vintage piece of furniture and it's one of my favorites in my studio.  Right now it stores my clear stamp sets but my goal is to display my 3D creations.

I hope you are enjoying part two, of my stamping space. You can view part one here.  I still have 2 more spots to share, one is where my guests and downline stamp and the other is my office.  My office is the worst place.  I am so not good with paperwork. Maybe you should give me a few suggestions on how to get organized there, Pretty please…

My friend Veronique came to stamp with me this afternoon.  We came up with a beautiful gift for a dear friend of hers with a matching card.  I can't wait to share with you tomorrow.

If you would like to stamp with me, book a party with your friends or check out my class schedule,  or join my team and you can attend my classes and monthly meetings, I would love to stamp with you!

The beginning of something good!

In January, when I attended leadership Stampin'up!, announce that we got to give one starter kit away, whoohoo!  The first person that popped in my head was Lucinda.  She is creative, inspiring and has the best of family and friends!  Today was her first workshop, I planned on supporting her every step of the way, which I did.  I was in charge of make and take for this one, but Lucinda is hosting again next Saturday and the cards are so beautiful:)  Her guests will be pleased.  She already has 2 additional bookings which makes me smile. I know she was the right person for this Free starter kit for so many reasons!  Also, she has a bunch of friends that are also creative and that can sew!  Some are quilters and I have to admit, I will want to attend those classes so I can learn also!

Here they are today, Stamping away and here is my make and take.

I featured the bliss stamp set that you can get for FREE with a $60 order!

I am placing an order on Monday, so if you would like to take advantage of sale-a-bration then simply email me your order.

Pay it forward, simply gorgeous

For me, it all started when Kimberly Van Diepen, who posted on facebook this comment:

"Here is something VERY fun! Time to pay it Forward in 2011: I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They must in turn post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. *The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011!"

She is a stamper that I truly admire because her projects reflect my style, and she is an awesome lady!  Anyway,  decided to take her up in this little challenge.  So, I re posted on my facebook profile and my Riverfrontstampin Facebook page.  Well, guess what:  I have 5 projects to do for my profile and 4 for my riverfront page = 9 in total.  It's a great thing that I have the entire year to do so.

Although, I didn't receive my pay forward from Kimberly, I did from one of my downline, awesome helper and good friend Lysanne.  She rocked my world this week at a workshop I was hosting with her pay forward to me.  She attended the event and brought my pay forward.   It is gorgeous.  As I would say in French, J'adore, J'adore, J'adore!!!  Merci Lysanne, du fond de mon coeur.

Let me share with you our relationship.  It's a small world!   She was looking for a Stampin'up! demonstrator because a friend had talked about SU products, so she looked into the demo finder in her area and voilà, my name appeared.  So she emailed me and found out that I was THE nurse at the high school she works.  And the rest is history.  As my business grew she has become my fabulous helper that I couldn't live without!

The colors and style are so me! And if you have been following my blog a little, you know I love baja breeze and stencils.  I hope stampin up creates more stencils.

Isn't it wonderful!  In the pockets are some wine "clippies", I don't know how to call them, lol

For complete instructions and product list, email me!

This pay forward comment made a lot of people create, which is so wonderful.  I haven't sent my pay forwards yet but I think they will be different from one another to represent the people that I am sending them to.

I have updated my classes view HERE, there are more to come:) If you want a fun fill day and need to update your scrapbook or need fresh ideas for your scrapbook classes,  I still have a few spots for my stamp-a-rama day in your pj.

Oh and I almost forgot, Marlayne and I are hosting our 2nd Creative Escape weekend retreat April 1st,2nd and 3rd and there are only 5 rooms left!  Book now to save your spot!  Details HERE

My to do list for the week for you: instructions for the card-scrapbook and a sneak peak from my stamp-a-rama day (you will fall off your chair on the cover album) and my to do list for me:  clean my stamp-create room, send downline packages and thank you cards & I am going for a run cause I made a goal to lose 14 and a half pounds before the Alaska Stampin up! Cruise!

Have a great day xoxo

Wowser Wednesday

It's the middle of the week and I wanted to share with you a wow project.  FACT:  Did you know since stampin up associated themselves with Sizzix, Sizzix had to hire 20% more employees.  We are also very lucky that stampinup has a partnership with them because they get to customize dies just for us!  The big shot has a lot of advantages and today I will show you one of them.

I made these for the 3D sudsol swap at convention, and gave one to a few special people in my stampin up life:  my trainer Ronda Wade, my SAM (service account manager) and one to stampinup.  Seriously you will love these, people would stop me to take a picture and ask questions.  A perfect gift for a hostess during Christmas time.  I will be making a few of these for my clients that book a workshop in the next 3 months.

The Pattern box , I had, It's not a die!  But you can print the pattern Here

The following materials work well when creating die cuts with the Big Shot machine and Bigz and Originals dies. Please note the maximum thickness of several materials. As a rule of thumb, you can cut a material with your Big Shot machine and Bigz or Originals dies if you can cut it using your Craft & Paper Scissors.

  • Thick corkboard
  • Thick chipboard (59 mil)
  • Colored magnet
  • Ruffle board
  • Paper wood
  • Balsa wood (3/32")
  • Bass wood (1/16")
  • Metal mesh
  • Aluminum (.016)
  • Tin (.008)
  • Adhesive and non-adhesive mat board
  • Drawer liner
  • Shelf liner
  • Vinyl
  • Static cling vinyl
  • Shrink film
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Clear acetate (20 mil)
  • Vellum
  • Card stock
  • Patterned paper
  • Flocked paper
  • Contact paper
  • Textured paper
  • Metallic paper
  • Linen paper
  • Suede paper
  • Embossed metallic paper
  • Basketball embossed paper
  • Faux alligator textured paper
  • Self-adhesive glitter paper
  • Fabric
  • Canvas
  • Iron-on fabric
  • Soft plush fabric
  • Burlap
  • Velvet
  • Corduroy
  • Lace
  • Heavyweight denim
  • Terry cloth
  • Funky fur
  • Thin leather
  • Quilt batting
  • Warm & natural batting
  • Fusible fleece
  • Self-adhesive craft metal
  • Self-adhesive cork
  • Self-adhesive foam
  • Self-adhesive magnet
  • Self-adhesive felt
  • Adhesive and non-adhesive rubber
  • Pop up sponge
  • Poly foam
  • 100% pure beeswax (cut with parchment paper on top & bottom of beeswax.)

I will be creating my first video on how to make these but for now here is a list of material needed:

Big shot # 113439

Snowflake #2 die #113460

Roofing material called flashing

Fine Cosmo glitter #108796 (for my votive)

My workshop of a lifetime with Shelli Gardner

Workshop of a lifetime, Today I’m on cloud nine!  I am so excited to share with you my 9hrs with Shelli Gardner and her daughter Sara.  When I first woke up yesterday, I went directly to my laptop to see what Shelli had written on her blog about her flight to Canada.  When I read the Sara and Shelli had lost there luggage I thought to myself I better help them get ready with the workshop.  Kellene Adams is Shelli’s assistant, she called me at 12h30 eastern time and said:  Shelli lost her luggage and she doesn’t have everything for the workshop.  I told her I knew about it and said what I had prep.  for them and she was in relief.

12h55  Door bell rang!  it was Shelli, cute as can be with the most stylish hat.  I had been nervous but in the first 5 sec, she put me at ease.  She was the most amazing, down to earth and kind women I had ever met.  Sara stepped out of the car and we chatted about the luggage and what our plan was going to be.  Despite the luggage being lost, they were so organized!  In 5 min everything was cut and ready to go.  I have never seen paper chopped so fast!  Still I looked at them and had to pinch my self a few times!! Was this real!!!!

My guests arrived and Shelli and Sara greated them, we talked about their adventure and about Shanna’s wedding plans.  Shelli talked about her family with such pride.  How fortunate for her girls to have such a wonderful mom!

Shelli’s workshop was about stencils.  How ironic, I was suppose to present at the Regional in Seracuse, but sadly it was cancelled because of bad weather.  My theme was also stencils.  I just loved them.  I have been using them for numerous techniques but Shelli amazed me with her technique.  Something I hadn’t done with my customers…

This card was her demo card:  love it…..

She used Basic gray cardstock, sage shadow and natural white.

Designer paper was: Nouveau Chic  (got to order that!), and love the new satin ribbons from the mini.  She used the basic gray ribbon. and embellished with a clear rhinestone.

She placed one of her Elegant trio stencil from the definitely decorative insert on the natural white cardstock and used a dauber to add sage shadow ink.  Shelli left the stencil on and stamped the gratitude stamp from the stamp set define your life, which you can have for FREE if you buy the demonstrator starter kit before the end of Sale-a-bration(March 31st).  For the final touch she spritz black ink with the spritzer tool and the basic black marker.  Voila, tres chic!

 Make and Take # 1

While Shelli was getting ready, Sara "wowed" my guests with the first make and take. It was a adorable pen with a little tag that they had designed with the modern label punch and the trio flower punch.

Then came Make and Take #2

Shelli used the Note cards (you get 20 with envelops for $7.95 canadian).  She cut about half an inch and added the groom specialty paper.  She placed one of her Elegant trio stencil from the definitely decorative insert on the note card and used a dauber to add the orchid opulence ink  (one of Sara’s favorites) Shelli added. The stylish basic black image is called Vintage labels, one of many stamp sets you get for free when you purchase for 65$.  Embellishment with circle ice lilac brads and basic black satin ribbon.  So elegant!

Shelli also made this cute box which I don’t have a picture  for our BOOK TO LOOK.  I guess I got caught in the moment!  But inside was 4 little cards like you see here.  Anyone who booked a workshop that day got one of these cards with a little incentive inside.  We got 3 bookings!! Wooo Ohh for us… Sherry, Therese and Julie get to have a similar stampin party of their own to get lots of great products…For FREE

She used the in color cardstock which will retire in July…

Hostess Gift -how cute is that

Shelli taught of everything.  Look at my cute boxe.  Filled with chocolate (by the way)  We all need a taste of chocolate….  She stamped in french just for me.  "Tu es exceptionnelle" It’s the one of a kind stamp but in french.  I also loved the kaleidoscope designer paper she used.

Ok I have lots of Stampin up products in my stamp room but Shelli did you know what I don’t have.  Now I have to make another wish list with all these wonderful projects.

When you demonstrated these products, I thought to myself they are so me!  It is like if you knew what I liked.  I am so into vintage…

Anyway this concluded the workshop, my sales are not final but I have to say 3 bookings, 1 recruit and 2 potential recruits is the best workshop ever.  Why?  because I got to spend it with Shelli and Sara.  Thank you!!

Downline Dinner

Top row:  Melissa Lalonde,Melissa Nadeau, Michelle Nadeau, Manon Parent, Roxanne Sauve, Chantale Assaly, Paula Assaly

Bottom row:  Danielle Drouin, Shelli Gardner, me, Sara Gardner and Jennifer Inskip

Some of my downline couldn’t attend but I will give them the scoop at my next team meeting at the end of the month.

Because I live in this little town, Shelli had to drive an hour and she could not drive back to her hotel room before the downline meeting so my husband and I decided to invite Shelli and Sara for dinner.  But then had the brilliant idea of having my downline, my girls attend also.  Shelli was kind enough to agree.  So we had this delicious meal in my home.  It was so much fun!

Thank you again for the wonderful day yesterday. I am in aw mode today! I walked in my stamp room this morning and it felt different! The memories from yesterday’s event, I will treasure forever. The best part was to see the reaction of all the demonstrators during the evening event. (Which I will post about tomorrow)

I am blessed to have met you and Sara and will cherish your friendship forever. My family has been touched by your visit yesterday.  I cannot thank you enough!! I will see you on the Stampin up! cruise in April…
