Faux Lace

Published by under Canada,Technique Tuesday

It's Technique Tuesday, and I feel like layers are in store today.  The weather here in Eastern Ontario Canada has been cooler.  I feel bitter sweet that Fall is just around the corner! Summer has gone by too fast but I love Fall.  Why?  Love apple picking, home cooking and the leaves turning all kinds of beautiful colors.  Fall is gorgeous in Canada.  Speaking about layers, today Technique Tuesday is Faux Lace  and I did layer ribbon over too.  Just feel like layering because of the cooler weather.

Faux Lace

1.  Cut a strip of cardstock.

2.  Brake fibers of cardstock with bone folder by sliding the bone folder to the  paper on both sides.

3.  Punch with border punch to create a pretty border.

4.  Create an accordion fold.

5.  Apply sticky tape to cardstock.

6.  Place folded paper to card like my image.

Technique Tuesday back to basics

Published by under Technique Tuesday

Last weekend I hosted a party in my home for a group of ladies from out of town.  They created 12 cards.  I decided to go back to the basics with them for one of the cards.  Some ladies had never stamped before and Popping Pastels is a wowser factor when you just start stamping.

Step-by-Step

  1. Stamp images with Versamark™ onto cardstock. The flower head was stamped three times here.

  2. Rub the sponge dauber (other other applicator) on the pastel color of your choice to pick up the color.

  3. Dab or rub the sponge dauber over the stamped image. The chalk will stick to it.

  4. Take another dauber and repeat to add another color.

  5. Add more images if desired. Here, flower stems, leaves and centers were added.

  6. Apply chalk over these images.

  7. (Optional)Use a Versamarker to apply ink to other unstamped areas.

  8. Apply more chalk.

  9. To define your stamped images more, try outlining or doodling around them with a marker.

  10. Finish your project.

Technique Tuesday

Good Morning, it's Tuesday already and I wanted to share with you a technique I did for my Sudsol swaps at convention.

Wax paper resist  is easy to do.

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

Emboss the wax paper in the Big Shot with an Embossing folder of your choice.

  2. Step 2

Fold the glossy cardstock in half, and put the embossed wax paper inbetween.

  3. Step 3

Cover the glossy cardstock with copy paper or paper towel, to avoid wax on the iron. Select “cotton” setting on the iron, no steam! Iron the cardstock.

This will transfer the design from the wax paper on to the glossy cardstock.

  4. Step 4

Remove and discard the wax paper. Begin sponging the classic Ink on, using a circular motion. Apply enough ink to get an even color.

  5. Step 5

Notice a positive and negative pattern, because both sides of the wax paper were used.

  6. Step 6

    Finish your card.

Here is my step up version.  I shrunk my design and added blushing bride cardstock and passed it threw the big shot with Finial Press embossing folder #115963.

Bare with me I have a light bulb that is burnt so, it's harder to take the picture with proper lighting
